Venus Pools

Venus Pools: a dreamlike cove on the Baunei Coast
The Venus Pools, located along the Baunei Coast in the municipality of Baunei, are a natural wonder that captivates every visitor. This small yet enchanting cove, about 50 meters long, is famous for its crystal clear waters that shift from turquoise to brilliant blue, making it one of the most precious gems in Sardinia.
The beach is made up of fine sand mixed with smooth white pebbles that reflect the colors of the sea, creating a magical atmosphere. Behind it, towering limestone cliffs covered with Mediterranean scrub offer a breathtaking contrast between the vibrant blue of the sea and the lush green vegetation.
Situated about one hour by boat from the port of Santa Maria Navarrese, and just a short distance from Cala Biriala and the entrance to Grotta del Fico, the Venus Pools are an unmissable stop for anyone exploring this stretch of coastline.
HOW TO GET TO THE VENUS POOLS
If youāre wondering how to reach the Venus Pools, the answer is simple: they can only be reached by sea. A boat tour departing from the port of Santa Maria Navarrese is the best way to visit them and explore the entire Baunei Coast along the way.
During the navigation you will admire iconic locations such as Pedra Longa, Bà us and the waterfall (visible in certain periods), Cala Goloritzé, Cala delle Sorgenti, Cala dei Gabbiani and Cala Mariolu. Continuing north, you will reach Cala Biriala, followed by Cala Sisine and Cala Luna.
From June to September, access to the cove is regulated by buoys placed about 100 meters from the shore for safety reasons, due to the possibility of small rockfalls from the cliff behind the beach.
USEFUL TIPS
- Best time to visit: visit the Venus Pools from May to September to enjoy ideal weather and crystal clear waters. In July and August, the cove can get crowded, so consider planning your visit during quieter periods for a more peaceful experience.
- Safety: avoid standing or swimming directly below the vertical cliffs, as the passage of wild animals may cause small stones or debris to fall.
- What to bring: since the Venus Pools can only be reached by sea, make sure to bring everything you need for a day at the beach, including a snorkel mask and, if possible, an underwater camera to explore the seabed and capture extraordinary images.
- For photographers and travel creators: plan your visit in May or early June, when tourist traffic is lower and the natural light is perfect for stunning photos and videos.
AN UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE
With its crystal clear waters, extraordinary colors and dramatic landscapes, the Venus Pools are one of the most captivating experiences on the Baunei Coast. Whether youāre swimming in its pristine waters or relaxing surrounded by towering cliffs, this cove will leave you with unforgettable memories of your trip to Sardinia.
